Machicomoco State Park is the first state park celebrating and honoring the history and legacy of the Native Tribes of Virginia. Located on the landscape of Timberneck, along the York River, Machicomoco State Park was associated with Tsenacommacah and Powhatan’s extensive Chiefdom as it is approximately 10 miles downriver from Werowocomoco. An interpretive area provides information on the culture, landscape, and movement of Native Peoples. A paved 5K trail follows along the main park road for walking or bike riding. The park provides diverse wildlife habitats, from open fields to woodlands and waterfront/marsh areas supporting deer, turkey, and many species of songbirds and birds of prey.

Other amenities include a campground with RV and walk-in tent sites, three overnight yurts, two picnic shelters, an accessible car-top boat launch pier, a forest hiking trail, and a floating dock on Timberneck Creek for fishing and daytime boat use.
