Friends of Fairy Stone State Park

The Friends of Fairy Stone State Park (FoFSSP) actively participates in the mission of Fairy Stone State Park. That mission is to conserve the natural, cultural, scenic, and recreational resources of the park, as well as to provide a variety of recreational and educational opportunities and to promote environmental stewardship through public awareness. You can earn benefits for your volunteer work. For example, you can earn free passes, free camping, and free cabin use at all Virginia State Parks. The ultimate benefit you can earn is a lifetime entrance pass to all Virginia State Parks along with the satisfaction of contributing to a great local resource.

Nestled at the top of Patrick County, an hour southwest from Roanoke, Fairy Stone State Park is one of the original six Virginia State Parks built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Fairy Stone State Park consists of more than 4,500 acres with approximately 9 beautiful miles of multi use trails for hiking, cycling and horseback riding. A 168 acre lake adorns the ground which is wonderful for family fishing trips, filled with largemouth and smallmouth bass. For those wanting to enjoy even more of the amenities of the lake, rowboats, paddle boats, kayaks and canoes are available for rent. The park features rental cabins, campgrounds, swimming beach, boat-launch facilities, picnic areas, and a visitor centre filled with local history and wildlife including the famous “Fairy Stones.”
